When doors are opening and closing on path trains does it make the ding dong sound or another sound?

Also known as a degrading third, in music terms.

PATH is very similar to the Bucharest subway in a few aspects, including the turnstiles, the solicitor who claims he ran out of juice at the shelter much to the amusement of the accustomed commuter, and this sound. It played a big part in getting me to settle in JC.

On Monday (30 July 2007) I was on 33-HOB and at 9 Street it did a DING-DING-DONG-DONG going down each tone. It was really weird.

The door chimes on the PA1/PA2/PA3s were installed when they were overhauled by Morrison Knudsen in the late 80s. Some of the older cars can have really messed chimes. The familar sound used by NYCT Subway's R44/46/62/68 and WMATA cars is on a similar note, different sound.
