A friend says some of that welded stuff is still there but had been cut up into smaller lengths. Not entirely sure about that though.

No "golden spike" ceremony. They have not completed the Yellowbrook - Fairfield Rd. segment. As per a prior post they are planning a ribbon-cutting type event on or about 18 September.

This week they have been running an alignment machine / tamper from Okerson Rd east. They are somewhere between Howell Rd and Fairfield (may have finished).

It looks like they have put that little zig in the track east (south) of Southard Ave, to allow room for the curve of the wye leg to go between the guy wires and the pumping station.

How many times a week will trains run on this segment now? As it stands, they run two times a week on the FIT and SOUS each. Will they run 4x a week then, or will they do it twice a week and try to get everything done in one train? Or could we see daily trains again??

We have to remember that in the future the 2 local trains per week will have to make room for the 30 car sand trains!!😁

Running late today
Funny, because SA-31 was running ~30 min early yesterday. I went to the grade crossing and caught only the blinking ETD on the last Centerbeam.

Somebody managed to knock down one of the light posts for the Route 88 crossing. Turned in too far and ripped the pole out.

Crossing damage at Route 88/DCS LAKEWOOD. Notice the tire tracks in the second picture. Looks like something big turned in too far and knocked out the light pole and natural gas marker.Image
