I think they'll be way ahead of the game if they just manage to implement "stay on rails" and "finish moderate trips in one shift."

Wow, quite the clip Mr. Barlow located. Here's the whole deal at a site allowing "sneak previews" before the "paywall jailor" yells "lockdown":grinning:

But, alas, who's going to wonder anything about "Precision Railroading" when, as noted by Mr. Markhb, the object of the game is simply get the train over the road without spilling it or without any, or too many, dead crews.

Stupid selfish politician with no knowledge of this matter.

BTW - His district is the extreme west end of the State and it probably would be the least affected region of Massachusetts. Don't know but he may be looking for concessions for the East-West passenger rail plan.

That filing is absolute rubbish.

At least the old mayor of North Adams (John Barrett) seems to be taking a more even keeled approach by realizing they don't have a peg to stand on with all the hyperbole.

It appears the main thrust of Neal's letter is that CSXT didn't return his calls.

Indeed.

Pan Am is notorious for ignoring anybody/everybody. It's hard to imagine that CSX would be worse than Pan Am in that regard.

He may be the Congressman from the Berkshires, but he's also the chairman of the Ways and Means (tax) Committee, so you'd think they wouldn't want to aggravate him.

How in heavens did this takeover originated with Timmy's desire to stop playing with his Lionels, and maybe improve rail service in Maine, become "all about passengers"?

Of course the MBTA has strong political support, and the NNEPRA "enough", but it just seems that politicos such as Rep. Neal (D-MA1) are just looking to make noise, and interfere with a matter that a Democratic Administration (FRA-DOT-WH) will adjudicate.

Do these politicians realize when they bring up "the environmental impact of this merger must be taken into consideration" and "With an increase in activity over
the reservoir, air pollutants serve as a major threat to this fresh water supply" they are advocating for keeping the railroad that runs pollutant spewing equipment as seen in this picture from Hayden Logan on NERAIL photo archive?

Stuff like this is going to make any railroad hesitate whenever the opportunity to sell to a government agency presents itself. Guaranteed rights could amount to little if the politicians flex their muscles and try to exercise more power than they have. Just might not be worth the hassle. Maybe they don't have a legal leg to stand on but they will keep poking and poking and just might make a little progress here and there. There certainly is a growing socialist movement that doesn't like big business and perceived monopolies but I can't get political here. Just think railroads might not be so cooperative in the future.

Oh contrayah! Neal's district hosts major chunks of all three main lines through the state, and it has both the most to win and the most to lose in this deal. That said, he is clearly swinging his Congressional elbows to get CSX to pay him more attention on the East-West project. Very clumsy, though.
