Construction around Jamaica

I flew into JFK yesterday and Caught the airtrain to Jamaica. On my way to the subway I noticed a lot of construction in the area. What is going on here, and is it related to anything LIRR?

Yeah, MTA is rebuilding the Jamaica Terminal so that it has matching architecture of the AirTrain Terminal. A similar design is also used at the Stillwell Terminal of NYCT that is nearing completion (The B, F, Q subway trains that terminate at Coney Island).
