Just read an interesting piece in Railway Age https://www.railwayage.com/mechanical/l ... -mongolia/ about Progress/Cat locomotive sales in Mongolia. This picture shows the new track structure and they are mixing one concrete tie, then four wood ties. Why do you suppose they're doing that?
