Everyone:
I was watching two rail videos from Railreel on YouTube this morning and noticed the mention of a CN freight
train derailment westbound inside the Paul Tellier St. Clair River Tunnel on the morning of Friday June 28th.
The train derailed around 40 cars inside the tunnel causing significant track damage - with one of the cars a
tank car carrying sulfuric acid spilling some of its contents. First responders from both Sarnia and Port Huron
were assisting with the cleanup efforts in the aftermath of this incident.
The closure and resulting cleanup was going to take upwards of a week and would require detouring freight
trains crossing the US/Canada border to the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel. The exception was that double stack
container trains had to operate by way of Fort Erie/Buffalo because of height restrictions.

Two news reports:

I was surprised that no one mentioned this derailment or the rerouting of trains in the aftermath anywhere
