What is the history of the MBTA's work train caboose C-1, seen below near West Medford on 4 January 2005?

Does the caboose have a cab in it?I have seen it on the Lowell line with the caboose facing Lowell and the engine towards Boston.

It's doesn't have a cab. However, it was fully rehabbed up in Lincoln, N.H. by the Hobo RR under contract. Equipped with ditchlights/backup lights and horn, so the work train can shove at 30MPH. This makes for faster moves and in some cases, then need to runaround the train.
