FYI....

Does this HLCX 6515 have any meaning to you???

welll it's placed into storage... RIP... no more TLC on this one...

If you still dont have any idea about HLCX 6515, here it is...

"HLCX 6515 was rebuilt from EL SDP45 3655. Hopefully it won't get scrapped.

(from a message posted in CSX forum)

hopefully someone can save this. I dont have kind of $$ to buy it. I wouldn't mind to be involve in saving this unit if someone can give me $$. I doubt that anyone WOULD donate $$ anyway. SDP45 is one of my favorite engines.

[quote="U-Haul"]Where did you read and/or here of this news?[quote]

from one of worker who had seen the paperwork that request 4 HLCX, include 6515 to be send to HLCX's storage somewhere (I think in Mich)

I would trust his comment

If not UP still has a couple of the SDP45's (UP 2767-2772). Although since SP got a hold of them they don't look much like EL units, also a number of them have gotten "tagged" since joining the UP roster, I guess nothing is safe from the spray can in California.

Lease fleet locomotives go in and out of storage on a regular basis, they are leased to fill power shortages and when not needed they are not used. Until you see that they plan to retire it, there is no need to panic.

At least one of the units that went to the UP was retired in 1999 - where is it now?

He said that these 4 units suffered the big problems that were enough to put them away for good.
