Press release on improved (faster) controls at immigration checks.

Maybe the US crossings should study these.
http://www.eurotunnel.com/ukcP3Main/ukc ... 07UKBA.htm
Following the signature of an agreement between Eurotunnel and UK Border Agency (UKBA), on 15 July 2010, which renews and reinforces the Service Level Agreement (SLA) reached in 2009, customers should find there are more border control lanes open at the Channel Tunnel at peak times and that they are processed more rapidly through the formalities.

The SLA was first signed by Eurotunnel and the UKBA in 2009 and is reviewed annually. It sets out the UKBA’s commitment to speed up the passage of people and goods at Eurotunnel’s Folkestone and Coquelles terminals and how UKBA will deliver on that commitment.

UKBA can process cars and their occupants in just one minute. With up to 8 border control lanes open, they can handle 480 vehicles per hour at peak times, equivalent to the number of cars carried on four Shuttle departures.

Hello,

for that some Hints from here.....

That are not normal Border Controls......because Great Britain is Part of the European Union....Between all Countrys of the
European Union there are NO Border Controls.....
look here:
http://europa.eu/about-eu/27-member-cou ... dex_en.htm

In the EU you can move freely with a valid Passport or a Identy Card issued from any of the European Countrys .

But for Security Reasons in every Country the Custom or the Border Police can check every one on a Travel abroad the Country Border..
so called Schengen Agreement
This means that everybody who is a Citizen of an EU-Country can travel on in a quick time...

Also the Neighbor Country Border Police and Custom work toghether........for Example on Trains between France and Germany there are
combined Patrols on the Trains...

Britain, and therefore also Ireland, has not joined Schengen. There are strict controls between the Schengen Zone and the UK. These become most obvious at the Tunnel and the Ferries.
