I was at the Boca Raton station last week. I noticed a small steam locomotive #12 on display with a red caboose. When was #12 placed here and where did it come from? I thought I once saw this locomotive (or similar) up in NY State in the early 80's. Could this be the same locomotive and if so what is the history of it between then and now?

Took a look at the FEC track w/concrete ties. It appears that on every 4th tie they have a raised clamp/fastener versus the standard. Why is this used and for what purpose?

I will do a little research on that engine at Boca for you.
As for Florida East Coast track, they probably have the best of any freight railroad anywhere but I do not know what you
are referring to so I can't answer your question.
I don't know how many trains you saw go through there but if they are not making a meet at Villa Rica siding a couple of
miles north, they can really be rolling through Boca. There are a couple of pretty good places to watch them pass through
there too.

I liked the old station's location better than the new one. You could walk from there to the hotels.
