BNSF 6350 in Santa Fe paint scheme(Blue & Yellow) at Port Newark
on Sunday morning.

Driving down Park Ave. in Linden on my way to the NJTP, I caught
something red out the corner of my eye. I pulled over just in time
to catch M & E #4223 heading east on the SIRR right by Bayway
Refinery. Unfortunately I didn't get a good position on it and so
a yield sign obstructs the #s on the cab.

Crossing over the Lehigh Valley on the Mountain Ave. overpass in
Middlesex, I saw a green signal for the eastbound direction.
So I turned onto South Ave. and found the signal near a storage
facility. I was just in time to catch this eastbound NS autorack train.

i saw that BNSF unit in ridgefield park last week. I was waiting for the n/b to come thru then all of a sudden i see the blue and yellow flying up. I was like kewwwlll (insert cartman from southpark voice). That engine has one of the loudest/oddest horns i've ever heard too.

Thanks, flying into Newark recently on the southern approach I spotted what I guess is the same alco switching refinery trackage on the west side of the turnpike, I though I was seeing things until I spotted the white M&E on the side of the hood. Do you know if this is an M&E operation or done under someone else's auspices? Likewise can anyone tell me if the pending service restoration to Staten Island will be operated by the M&E or Shared Assets?

The M&E is cntracted to switch the Bayway Refinery(Tosco) and also
is under contract to operate freight service on the SIRR.
You can read about it on the M&E website:

keep in mind that the operation of the SIRT in NJ from Cranford to Bayway, and the operation of the SIRT from the Chemical COast into Staten Island are 2 Seperate operations.

M&E is the operator in NJ

Conrail Shared Assets will be the operator to/from and on Staten Island
