OK, let's see. I can help a little with the photos in Kearny (Arlington). The Arlington Station was removed in the early to mid 1970's after it suffered a fire.

East of the station, the abandoned track that is on what seems to be a bridge was to deliver coal to the DuPont plant poser house that used to be there. The plant closed in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

The West Arlington station burned down in the middle 1980's. Don't know the exact date. If you go to www.KearnyAlumni.com go to the photo section and look for the link for New York and Greenwood Lake. There are photos of both stations there as well as the area.

Hope this helps.

Doug,

Thanks so much for the info. Yes, it does help. Now if you can only bring back the stations and the trains :-)

Not the stations, but there is talk at NS of rehabbing the bridges and the line to run a daily freight train over the line... Supposedly a big customer is moving in close to DB draw... The cost of repairing the bridges might be too much anyway!

I won't believe this rumor until I see some sort of work being done on them....

That would be great but I will believe it when I see it. Same for the cut-off.

If you don't have the book "The next station will be" NY&GL, you can view the picture of the SOHO station (laugh) at this site:

Just scroll down.

Amazing.
