I'm not sure about Walthers, don't you think thier prices are a way high? For example, the Atlas Fairbanks-Morse H15/16-44, are $149. They sell everything at MSRP except for sales, and even then you can get a better price elsewhere. Great service and selection though, and you can't beat the catalog. Using the H15/16 as an example, I've got an interesting story that kind of shows the deal for buying trains. I was up on Long Island in Feb 05, my first stop, of course, was Willis, I spent quite a bit ($300-400), including a LIRR FM H 16-44 for $119. I then proceeded to Trainworld in Lynbrook an saw they were selling the FM for $89.. I noticed that all the other things I had purchased at Willis 15 to 30% lower at Trainworld. I didn't really mind, because I am a firm believer in supporting hobby shops and I realize you are paying for the atmophere, overhead, and most important, the ability to hold the items. However $30 is $30, so back to Willis I went, the guy asked me why I was returning it, at which point I pulled out Trainworlds flyer (wrong move!),I showed him their price and asked him if he would be willing to negotiate, I got the look of death, he mumbled something to the effect, that he doesn't compete with internet guys....I didn't bother to tell him that I didn't really get it on the internet because I knew the deal was done. That in a nutshell is how it works. Instant gratification or shopping around, take your pick. The price ranges are crazy and you need to be patient and do your home work, oh and don't forget EBAY!
