Readville is an active yard and probably has security.
Cedar Hill is probably the biggest abandoned facility in New England, well,
not quite abandoned as there are still two or three jobs that work out of
the old East Class yard and Amtrak uses a portion of the old westbound
departure yard for M of W equipment and cars.
Some parts of this once massive yard facility were not accessible by car,
the only way the crews got to work in these areas was on the "Jitney" a
transfer that ran at shift changes between New Haven Station and the
East Class Yard making whatever stops were necessary to drop and pick
up employees.
At one time, this yard had in excess of 12 yard crews working each trick.
I don't recommend trespassing in this yard for several reasons.

Funny one Noel!!!! :P The only security there is us employees, unless you consider the Boston Cops that sleep in the driveway during the overnight security, LOL. :P

That is Five Yard, which is fenced-in, but I believe there is a break in the fence. If you follow the track to the left this is a loop track which goes around the entire yard, and there are two Amtrak hoppers about 1/4 mile in. Be careful walking this track if you do do it as it is probably very over-grown with weeds. If you stay on the track to the right as you come from the station, this is the old East Dedham Industrial track, which used to continue up to Rte.1 in Dedham but two above grade bridges have been removed.
