I figured I'd mark this as a bit of a generic title because it's going to get expanded, as the Baltimore Terminal Subdivision is much bigger than the Howard Street Tunnel.

When I was still working for CSX Baltimore Terminal including the tunnel were a part of my territory. After the fire was extinguished and derailment clean up could proceed - the cars on the North end of the train, ahead of the derailed cars had copious amounts of dirt and other debris ON THEIR ROOF's. Such debris could only have come from the burst water main - which was the real cause of the derailment. NTSB found no exceptions to the track structure, car conditions or train handling as causative actions. Politics played a large part in the NTSB final report, with this incident I have lost trust in the NTSB and its reports.
