B726 derailed 3 out of 4 engines @ Forte-Fibre around 1130pm Tuesday night. B726's crew was transported back to Middleboro and then B727's crew was brought up to Forte-Fibre in the morning to do the re-railing. Amtrak "maintains" the lead to Forte-Fibre since it goes off Track #4 of their main-line, but always blames us. The last time B726 put 2 loco's on the ground there (only about six months ago or so), Amtrak tried accusing the crew of not having the derail in the non-derailing position. Now here's two things wrong with that accusation: #1) The derail, like all other sidings on the NorthEast Corridor, is a Pipe-Connected derail, which drops when the switch is reversed and goes back to the derailing position when the switch is restored normal for the main-line. #2) Even if the derail was up somehow, how come the middle two engines derailed but not the ones on each end?!?!?!? Duh!! Wide gauge again fellas.
BTW MBTA F40: B733 delivered the first car to West Mansfield's newest customer shortly after midnight the same night. The old Zayre's Building is now being used by Milton Distribution Co., which will be getting regular rail service.
