My late uncle, a WW II infantry vet of the ETO, hired on at the Sayre shops about 1940. He related to me back around 1969 that at one time there were 2,500 people working for the LVRR in Sayre per shift. Compared to that, the Sayre rail complex is now pretty much empty, but the soul recalls days when it was not.
