In the early nineteen fifties there appeared on television a series of Lucky Strike cigarette commercials. The viewer saw the hands of a noteworthy individual as he smoked a cigarette. After a moment, and a Lucky Strike spiel, the identity of the smoker was revealed. In one such segment we were told that the hands of the featured person belonged to the engineer of the 20th Century Limited. His name was given as Jockey Thompson. I have no idea where he may have worked or any other particulars. I also have no idea why I remember this after all of these years. It would be interesting to know if anyone else here has any thoughts or ideas about this episode.
