Halloween isn’t even over and we’ve already gotten questions about the Virginia Railway Express’ Santa Trains. Just goes to show how popular the event is.

Here are the details.

From VRE:

This year, VRE is continuing another holiday favorite. As part of the festivities, during the morning of Santa Trains our Leeland Road station will become a drop off site for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign. We are encouraging everyone to bring a toy to the Santa Trains that will be shared with someone less fortunate in the Virginia area. Yes, we will still be holding our annual on board toy drive Wednesday, December 5th.

The tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Nov. 26. Click this link for the full details.

VRE has not sent out an email about Santa trains yet and the Santa pages on VRE website have not been updated since November 2012

VRE has justed posted info for its's annual Santa 2013. Please ignore the previous posting

The event, taking place on Saturday, December 14th uses this opportunity to remind people of the importance of rail safety. So remember, that this event is not just for fun, but it also has a serious and important message: "Look, listen and live!" from Operation Lifesaver. The Santa trains will run out of four stations: Burke Centre, Fredericksburg, Manassas and Woodbridge.

In addition, Operation Lifesaver Santa Trains also work in conjunction with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots. So on December 14th, our Fredericksburg, Manassas, Burke Centre, and Woodbridge stations will be drop off sites for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign. We are, therefore, encouraging everyone to bring a toy to the Santa Trains so that someone less fortunate in the Virginia area can share in the joys of the holidays.http://vre.org/seasonal/santa_trains/availability.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Tickets go on sale Monday November 25th at 9 a.m. More information about ticket sales and trains can be found here: http://vre.org/seasonal/santa-trains.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The tickets sell out fast, both online and in person. Last year, VRE sold 7,500 tickets. Online tickets were gone in minutes and all vendors sold out of their tickets by noon.
