Does anyone know if the NECR between St. Albans and the Canadian Border is going to be upgraded to extend the Vermonter north to Montreal during this summer's work season?

It's already funded for a major overhaul to get the line up the East Allburg interchange upgraded to 286K and good state-of-repair. Not yet passenger speed, but a very major step to getting there. The fine-tuning to get it to passenger speed is relatively minor compared to the heavy maint work that's about to be done. Nothing being done yet to the tiny bit of CN territory that pokes across the border, but that's no biggie when the time comes.

Montrealer doesn't come on the table until Quebec Province can fund upgrades to the tracks from the border to Cantic where it merges with the Adirondacker route, and both countries can square the jurisdictional sharing and Customs considerations for adding that route.
