Great shot and a perfect day to get it. We had that one down here in S Jersey for a short time around 2003. Amazing how the Conrail on the nose wears off so fast despite the rest of the unit looking sharp - having been in that paint since the early 90's.

I caught a conrail blue engine leading a freight on the CSX river line today, in harrington park, NJ. (thursday may 12) Went by too fast to catch the number, but it was a big road engine. It was leading a freight train that had 4 engines in the consist: the conrail leading followed by 3 csx units. It's nice to see blue still leading a freight from time to time. :)

Nice catch RailsEast you beat me to the punch, was about to post about the fact that there were a few (3 or 4 maybe?) Blue units milling about Port Reading today, couldn't get any numbers though.

Well it appears there is just one switcher left in Conrail blue. NS 2100 sw1001. With all this repainting of conrail locos going on, (ns has just 80 blue ones left and csx has less than 25 blue left) it sure is nice to see this little switcher hang onto her blue paint. :)

Incidentally she is also 38 years old and still going!

NS has 75 blue units left.... CSXT has less than 10 blue units... CSXT should be completed in painting blue units by the end of the year as this was CSXT's goal to get them all done. NS, they have one last C40-8W in blue still running around systemwide. Rest of them are mainly SD40-2's, GP38-2's and switchers.

http://www.nsdash9.com/crrepaints.html Very accurate......

I shot CSX(CR) 7489 just last week, Hard to believe there are less than a dozen CR blues left on CSX. Conrail units left on CSX and only eight left on the road working. CR units remaining including GP38-2 2730,2758, GP40-2 4428, SD40-2 8814,8865, B40-8 5960, C40-8 7489, C40-8W 7301,7302,7303,7335. Of these, 2758,8865 is stored at Huntington and 5960 at Corbin.

Now it's down to just 72 units in blue on NS. And there is just 1 switcher left in blue, NS 2100 (sw 1001) formerly CR 9400.

:( Sad news... The last blue switcher on NS has been painted over. #2100 (sw1001) is no longer blue :( I was hoping that little switcher would hang on to her blue paint. And for the record now only 68 blue engines left on NS roster. Blue power is indeed fading fast.

Must be NS in making good word on there plans to have all the EX CR units in Black before the end of the year?? I wonder how many are still in Blue on CSX any ideas??

I heard less than 10 blue engines left on CSX.

It's now down to only single digits of Conrail painted engines running on the CSX System. 4428, 7301, 7302, and 7335 are the only ones I am sure are still in Conrail paint. 7489 was still in Conrail paint as of the middle of July, but I heard rumours it went to Huntington for painting. More likely than not, 4428 will be the last one as it is kept in Jersey on Conrail Shared Assets.
