Just leaving Island Pond at 8:40PM. Should be the last eastbound train until at least Monday night.

Hello,
Today's SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0847 with another very short train:

RM-1 804
GP40-3 3805
GP40-3 3806
RM-1 805
2 empty centerbeam flats (from RCP)
3 loaded boxcars
4 loaded hi-cube boxcars
1 empty boxcar
15 LPG tank cars
4 tank cars
3 NaClO3 covered hoppers

That's 32 cars total, including 7 loads and 25 empties.
Have a good day,
Fritz

How is this line dying? There's been no indication G&W is reevaluating its strategic investment here.

MaineDOT?

If the ME DOT took over ownership of the line, I think there would be several
bidders to operate it, since they would not have to put up millions $$$ to
purchase it. CMQ comes to mind. Even Mr. Jefferys of the NHCR might be
interested. Probably some other railroad interests not currently in the
northern New England area.

However, I am not sure that the ME DOT would be interested in buying
trackage in NH, VT and Canada.

Probably not, and I suspect state law would not allow it.

There's no on-line business left between S Paris and Island Pond, correct? That's a lot of line of road - 100 miles worth - to maintain. Those train sizes are alarming; the latest posts indicate about 100 loads per week in each direction.

It's starting to sound/look like the Mountain Division in its final days. All bridge traffic........

There is the interchange with the NHCR at Groveton and North Stratford.
If Maine took over the line from Danvile Jct. to the NH border, NH might
take the line from the ME border to North Stratford to keep the outside
connection to the lines to Whitefield and the NHCR at Columbia, which
are owned by the State,
