At 9:30 Thursday morning, three trains were at Cove Road: NS 39G on 2-running, and WPCA20 and CSX Q418 on 1-running.

There is a very interesting article recently posted in Progressive Railroading regarding the technological improvements in Conrail's Pavonia Yard. I'd post it but don't want to violate any copyright rules. In short, they removed the hump and went to one man operations, while installing about 232 GPS-linked sensors and 32 cameras to allow for greater observation and control of the yard. they invested about $5 million in new technologies, mostly not yet used by other railroads, and cut operating costs 70%. They said they didn't lay anyone off, just transferred to other assignments.
