Does anyone know which SIRT stations had ticket offices and when they were closed? I recently took a ride on SIRT and noticed an old ticket office in the waiting room of the Great Kills station.

I believe most of the stations on the main line had station houses, with the exception of Bay Terrace, Richmond Valley, and Atlantic (I'm not sure about the defunct NS ans SB lines). Most were still open in 1972 when I left the Island.

The ticket office existed until circa 1987, when token machines were introduced. On July 4, 1997 the fare policy was changed to allow fares paid only at St. George.

Thanks for the info. Was a zone fare system still used on SIRT when the ticket offices were closed? Also, when were the turnstiles installed in St. George?
