Security situation on an Amtrak train in Newark

The details are on the Amtrak forum but there was an Amtrak train detained this morning in Newark and everyone was checked very closely.

^Just checked it out. Sounds like it is (was) a pretty serious security concern check.

Yes, there were numerous helicopters and police units. But by 10, it looked like nothing had ever happened.

Again, the details are in the Amtrak forum but it is now being reported that it was a threatening note taped in a bathroom on the train that caused the search.

Looks now like a hoax by some idiot but such events do need to be taken seriously.

Just what we need. Some joker messing around like that. We have enough problems with knee jerk reactions to terrorist threats. We dont need anyone stirring the pot.

I expect more of this stuff to happen during the convention week. There was an article in one of the NY papers last week on how "anarchists" were planning disruptions to the transportation systems. Stuff on how to make the bomb-sniffing dogs think you have chemicals on you when you don't, etc., etc.

Yeah, I remember that. Going to the gun range then jumping on a NY bound train, bringing other chemicals on board, throwing marbles in front of the horses on the mounted patrol in NY.....
