When the Bredas came back from rehab, they were given the version of the door chime that first appeared on the 5000-Series cars. Makes sense, considering that the newer announcement was slightly improved over the original.
As for 3003, I'm surprised to hear that the old chimes are still alive and well. Metro missed a lot of cars, but now, four years after the change, it's surprising that there are still cars where they've missed changing the chime. Since they did the rehab roughly in numerical order, one would think that this car would have been part of the original change-over, and not a later job (as I understand it, the chimes on the rehabs and the 6000's were set to the second version of Sandy Carroll at the factory, and had to be changed to Randi Miller by WMATA once the cars arrived on the property). Weird that the chime had been missed for this long.
