HI Folks,
I am creating a diorama for the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum of the Long Island RR Pavilion at the 1964/65 NY Worlds Fair and am in need of your help.
Does anyone happen to have a very clear side view of ANY of the blu&white R36 subway cars?
I need 1 really good shot to create 8 cars froms so as to have a background of them operating on the #7 line.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We will be hosting a celebration of the 50th anniversary on Saturday May 17th (rain date May 24th) at the
Oyster Bay RR Museum-www.obrm.org and will have the Mustang Shelby club of LI bringing in many historic 1964/65 Mustangs which were introduced at the Fair. Please Join us
Thank you

NY Transit Museum and NYCT have mentioned (tentatively) plans for a special historic train in April for the 50th anniversary of the World's Fair. A date possibly mentioned is April 19, the 50th anniversary of World's Fair passenger express service on the Flushing Line.

For more info on the R36 cars and efforts to restore 9586 and 9587, visit R36 Preservation, Inc. One other World's Fair car, single unit R33 9306 (original "Blue Arrow" turquoise livery) is also in the NY Transit Museum fleet.

7 trains are 11-cars long, not 8 (Unless that was the length during 1964).

The NY Transit Museum has an unrebuilt R33WF in World's Fair paint. That's about as close as you can get to a NYC subway World's Fair Car in person if you want to take your own photo. Will these photos help?:

A little dirty and/or slightly to the side:

These have sponsorships on the side, but they are the cleanest side shots I've found

http://nycsubway.org/perl/show?4410" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?39068" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?4156" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Will the diorama be up by mid to late March because I'm planning to stop by the OBRM then...

Best of luck, TJ

Good, I'm glad this seems to be more than some sick foamer rumor...I saw one post about it on some random FB group this morning and have been trying to find out if it was legit or not since!

4/19/14 train has been cancelled last minute apparently.

NYTM will offer a World's Fair excursion on June 8, $50 adult/$25 child.

If this is really happening this weekend, it will be worth a trip into the city to ride it. Might be our last hurrah on the #7-line.......... Hope for nice weather.

TWC calls for a high of 69 and low of 55 on sunday. Agreed, this might be one of the last times in a long time that the redbirds will ever run in regular service on the 7 line again. This is going to be an emotional train ride... (I can't begin to tell you how much I loved riding the redbirds). It's definitely fitting that the redbirds have one last hurrah now since the scrapping of the rider cars is to come soon. They'll go out and all of NYC will know it!

They ran the ToMC last year for the ASG at CitiField, I'm sure if the Mets ever make it to the World Series they'll get dragged out again ;)
