Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but here goes. The E&N division of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association is trying to raise funds to aquire GMD-1 1170 from its current owners. The 1170 is an historically important artifact to railroading on Vancouver Island as it, as no. 1070, pulled the last CN train on Vancouver Island from CN's Pt. Ellice yard in Victoria to the end of steel near mile 1.1 on the Saanich Spur(3 miles from the Pt. Ellice yard). We can have the unit for $50,000, including transportation costs to get the unit from North Bay, ON to Victoria, BC. Once we get the unit to Victoria, as part of our plans to turn the old CP shops in Victoria into a museum, the unit would be restored to it's condition when it was in service on the island. The unit would be used for public events, and pulling excursions on Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway trackage.

Those interested in making a donation contact me off the list. [email protected]
