846 has been specially wrapped for the Veterans and Service members of the United States. Look for it to be in service soon

does anyone know why the original order of rotems are already looking road worn? some of them are less than 10 years old.
  by CRail

Because they're decaled and not painted. It's the same for the 900 coaches.

What about the new order of Rotems? Are they painted or decaled as well?

The 900s look disgusting.

How about the 700s? are they painted?

I believe the 700s were painted as delivered but in the Alstom rebuild they were decaled.

Whats up with all the windows on all the CR cars? Are they plastic or something, they look like old headlight assemblies that are all yellowed/oxidixed. Dont see that on other equipment on other roads, or even the subway stuff.

Some of their windows are older than others, and use an outdated material. Also, the T, as we know, doesn't do the best job at keeping equiptment looking fresh :P

I don't know about it being an outdated material, but over time it does get scratched up and yellows from exposure to the sun. This problem affects other railroads as well, they're just more proactive about replacing window panes (and let's be honest, the T DOES have better things to spend the money on).

Not enough people ride the Commuter Rail for them to actually keep it to good standards. Even the subway, people use it, and they still wait 40-50 years to retire equipment.

As for the material, I heard from a source that they use a more durable and flexible material now on the newer cars, and one of the perks to the material is better quality over time. As for the proactiveness about replacing them, you are correct.

As of saturday, 846, the wrap car, was on the 1840 set. Look for it to be in service mainly on the NEC.

Every car of batch 10 is in revenue service = 2001-863-869-868-1850; 1849 is with the 2002

846 is with the 1840 still
