Next up rolling east on the B&A today.

Yes, that the Bow coal plant exists is surprising in some ways, but not in others. Since New England won't allow natural gas pipelines, there remains a need for reliable energy back up for peak periods of energy demand, in deep winter, and the hottest summer periods, thus the need for a plant like the one at Bow.

Protesters blocked a coal train in Bow this morning.

Police arrested the protesters and had to disassemble scaffolding they set up on the tracks for their protest before the train could continue on.

Another LCT just passed Tyngsboro headed for Bow.

Saw a coal train today on the B&A webcam ( http://railroad.net/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=171147 ) - Springfield yard about 2:30 PM.

Hope to someday catch a train in North Lowell where the Stoney Brook intersects the Lowell to Nashua track. Doesn't seem like too many take the north fork.

The entirety of the Wye is in Chelmsford and yes the only things that go up the Northern are the Nashua locals and these sporadic coal trains.

Curious if these trains come off CSX? Saw a CSX coal train move EB through SPG yesterday, not a train I'm used to seeing there and I wondered if it was for PAR.

Interesting that the B&A, which isn't typically thought of as a unit train route, in the past weeks has seen unit Coal, Wheat and Ethanol trains.

A tunnel collapse and rerouting will do that. ;)
