A video from the CaptureCam and then NS 345 and A38 putting together a train at the Tuscaloosa station with great EMD power. Be sure to watch the guy take his bike and climb over A38 as it had both crossings blocked for a few minutes.

Slim pickens on the AGS South with the track work going on. Most trains are running early morning and late afternoon. Not favorable condtions for shooting video. I did catch NS 225 Friday afternoon but managed to delete the file from my camera. Then there was NS 345 I got right after before the light left.
I set up the Capture Cam Saturday morning a caught two trains running south before the action stopped.

Went train hunting early this morning with my train pointing dog Frisco. He
managed to flush me out NS 219 first then a rare bird indeed. A very short (10
cars) auto rack-intermodal train headed north towards Birmingham. We had to see
more of this oddity and chased it to Coaling just in time to get caught in a
thunderstorm. But we persavered and got the shot! As a side note a wet dog in
the cab of the truck SUCKS!
Later that day just before the sun went down we caught a Mexican headed for the
border. All in all not a bad day considering all the track work going on in the
area.

Frisco says "thanks for looking!"

Went out to Coaling today in hopes of catching a meet between Amtrak Train 19 and 20. NS 22Q was in the hole so I figured 19 would pull in behind then back out after Train 20 passed. I figured right but wasn't going to drive back there and get my truck muddy. Instead I took advantage of the slow orders and shot both trains in various locations. Exceptional horn work by both crews but Train 19's crew just showed out as they came up to MP 195. Great work by all!

be sure to watch the last video...it's funny if I do say so myself

On the way home from work this afternoon I stumbled across the Alabama Southern Turn returning from it's rendezvous with the CSX up north. Leading the way was CSX 5941, a 8-40B along with a GP40-2 in Dark Future livery. All I had was my phone so I made the best of the situation to catch this rare catch

Today was what train chasing is all about. Went out to Coaling to catch Trains 19 and 20 meeting. Norfolk Southern A55 was in the hole at Coaling. Had lunch with the crew. Great bunch of guys! Then Train 20 came along with Big Mo at the helm. They backed in at CP Coaling to not only wait on Train 19 but NS 225 which was runing ahead of Train 19. So you get to see a Cresent in the hole as an intermodal train runs by and then Train 19 comes by. NS 225 would get in the hole at Crabtree so Train 19 could pass.
NS A55 headed out of Coaling after Train 19 passed. I got them leaving and then again crossing 26th Street in East Tuscaloosa. Be sure to check out that road slug set on the point. First time I've seen that

A set up the Capture Cam before going to church last Sunday and was I ever
blessed. It caught a a real Mexican, some Southern Belles, a rent-a-wreck and
even some Norfolk Southern motors. All this action in an hour! Who says you have
to be lucky. All you need is long battery life.
After lunch I set up shop in what was someones back yard before April 27th and
got the Cresents arriving and departing Tuscaloosa through the Elberta City
area.

While moving this weekend I did manage to shoot a couple of trains Sunday
morning and make it over to see the Amtrak Anniversary train at Meridian. All
in all not to bad and I'm settled in atop the hill at MP195. Looking forward to
hiking over and setting up the Capture Cam as soon as this track work is done. I
if you didn't know I have a live scanner feed running over at radio reference.
How did I ever get moved????

NS 225 came by while the track gang was in the clear. NS A55 came by later that afternoon and stopped for a signal at MP195. Heard it bang the slack out and took off to get the best shot I could. Got my new monopod today so you wont get sea sick watching anymore

On Friday Amtrak 20 had to back all the way to Tuscaloosa Siding and hole up for its meet with Train 19. This was after it had made it station stop so Train 20 arrived and departed Tuscaloose twice in one day! I'm sure this has happened before but it was the first time I had witnessed it. What made this especially interesting was how I came to know they would meet in such an unusual way. I was listening to my live internet scanner feed at work on my phone using the scanner app. Isn't technolory great!
Woke up too early this morning so I headed and and got NS 219 with a trio of Belles leading the way then NS 393 as soon as the block was clear.
Amtrak 20 backed in behind NS 345 at Coaling to wait on Train 19. Got both of them after the meet and then chased 345 to MP195

Caught the outbound ABS Train crossing the Black Warrior River today in Tuscaloosa. This is the first time since moving to Tuscaloosa I have seen a train moving across this trestle. As an added extra bonus it has four instead of the usual three EMD motors. I must say it's a pretty awsome sight to see them perched up high above the ground on a wood trestle.
The quality is lacking due to the fact I didn't have my monopod but I had to take the shot. Who knows when I will get to see this again
