Does anybody think the scheme was inspired by their lake-going ferries, with the forward yellow part being a bow wave and the blue upper being the hull? It was introduced in 1947, when the prior PM logo was a giant red circle - I can't imagine anybody wanted the Japanese zero as their logo at the time.

of yellow is not for water..but rather based off the "wing" and stripes on the U of M helmets.
