Got word this evening that while working the BH-X monday night, the 3618 fried a traction motor while mated to the 3010. The 3618 will now have to be shopped for a bit, leaving the 3010 to do the work. Apparently business is pretty heavy on the Northern division, as CSX has interchanged close to 200(yep, you read that right) cars to the NYSW in the past few days. the snow up north is slowing things down as an added matter to contend with, and there are close to 100 cars on line destined for Suit-Kote in Cortland alone!
The SU-100/99 turns will go back to their 5-day a week operations as soon as the power crunch eases up. as for detours, the Q156 is to be the eastbound, and allegedly(subject to change) there will be a westbound, that being the Q163.
The Q163 is a stack train from PNCT, a small stack yard adjacent to Port Newark, NJ. It normally operates between Port Newark and Syracuse, NY, with its counterpart being the Q162. It normally runs 5 days a week, but has run six on occasion. Currently it goes on duty with a selkirk crew out of the hotel, usually around 6:30 PM, aometimes a bit earlier or later, but not by much. Its restricted to 4800 feet(as is the 162) owing to the somewhat small two track yard the train goes to/from at Port Newark.
the detours are scheduled to start this coming sunday, with the Q156 expected to be first. how this will all play oput with the 100/99 turns should be interesting.... stay tuned......

Are you sure that the Q163 will be used on the westbound detour move?? I ask this cause I was told the Q156 and the Q163 usually meet at CP1. I guess it is just poor planning on CSX's part. One would think the Q161 would be a better candidate!

Well, owing to the wreck on the mohawk sub in Oneida, NY, the detour plans have obviously changed. On March 12, Q118 ran to NJ via Syracuse-Binghamton-Sparta, arriving in the early morning hours of the 13th(today). Q111 ran west via the NYSW, departing about 0730 with 20 NYSW freight ahead of the stack traffic. Q165 is the next westbound to hit the property, from Kearny, and expected east is another Q118, SU-100, and possibly a Q162. Look for the railroad to combine the SU-100 with one of the eastbound CSX trains. Never a dull moment......
