Has anyone heard if any loco builder has been selected to supply the three locomotives that PANYNJ ordered for NYNJ Rail & maybe Port Jersey RR?

There was what looked like a GP38-2 in the chain link fence enclosure at Bay Ridge Yard around 5:15pm today in a blue & white livery.

The engine you saw is one of two leased locomotives NYNJ Rail is using in 65th Street & Greenville yards.

The locomotives I was talking about are the “three tier 3 refurbished switcher type locomotives” that the Port Authority is purchasing for NYNJ Rail.

Looks like Knoxville Locomotive Works won the bid for 3 Refurbished Locomotives for NY NJ RAIL LLC.

The price $5,563,152.

Thanks for the update JoeRR. Do you know what type of locomotives they're going to get, and are they getting rid of any or all of their current roster? Keep us posted.

Don’t know what type they will be.

Nothing posted on the Knoxville website.

The Geeps are leased and will probably be returned.

I'm curious about 1133 also. I thought they leased those geeps because 1133 had to get some sort of work done to it, is it not worth getting it fixed while these 3 refurbs are in the works? It still hasn't returned to 65th street, are they going to get it back before these refurbished units get delivered or have we seen the last of 1133?

NYNJ has another lokie at Jersey City # 2202. Haven't seen it personally, but its there with two switchers by the float bridge. The Port Jersey engine still is kept over on Port Jersey Blvd.
