I'm in Morristown just now and see NJT cars on the M&E, three in the picture and one more next to the shop. Is the M&E dong work the MMC cant handle?

Huh. That's interesting. Maybe NJT is contracting out work to get to a "state of good repair" more quickly? They've been criticized during the Hoboken crash for a backlog in maintenance. I'm not sure if that extends to passenger car maintenance.

They did this with the some of the locomotives that got damaged in Sandy.

Thank you for the information, guys. That 6054 is a cab car as is the one behind it, judging by the air horns on its roof. I don't know about the others.

So the work is done by njt, m&e, or some 3rd party contractor?

most likely 3th party, they rent shop space to avoid union interference in closed shops like MMC
