My brother told me a week or 2 ago that WNYP is putting in a siding on the 'WNYP side' (RR north or physical south) of RT 8 at Rynd Farm. I went to a wedding in Oil City yesterday and had to check this siding out. Sure enough, there is a switch at the OC&T end of the new siding. No running track yet, just the switch. The siding will be running toward Rouseville. Any ideas why? When we chased the ME-1 in July (here's the trip report: http://railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.ph ... 8&start=75), we checked the OC&T interchange out earlier in the day. There was a volunteer (and former OC&T engineer) there mowing, and he said that Charter Plastics in Titusville was going to be upping production, and would be needing switched out every 10 hours. This would mean needing more cars, and more interchange. Since the OC&T/WNYP interchange appears to be able to only hold 12 cars, could the new siding be for add'l. interchange room? Not sure if the current interchange is able to be expanded because of terrain (not train).

Above is only speculation, and educated guessing as to what I saw and heard. FACT: There is a switch in place on the oppposite side of RT8 from the current interchange. I was unable to see the other end to see if the other switch is in place or not.
