How many SD40-2's on the Union Pacific lack Dynamic brakes?

No, some MP SD40-2s had DB.... they were classified as SD40-2C. Ballasted heavier and used for pool unit coal drags with UP and Rio Grande (?).

You are correct, although they were also pooled with BN unit coal trains too.

They were also built to BN specs, I believe.

SD40-2's in the 700 and 3000 series do not have dymanic brakes

SD40-2's in the 6000 series have dynamic brakes

they were ordered to be used in pool service with BN although they appeared on other roads too
