I searched google for an answer to this, and also searched these forums, to no avail. I am assuming Middletown had a passanger station building, hopefully I am right. Where was (is) this building and does anyone know of a photo? Thank you. The thread about stations in New England cities made me think of this.

Once upon a time, Middletown had 2 railroad stations on the Connecticut Valley line... the original I believe was at the foot of Washington St at deKoven Drive (and I think still exists... right next to Rt 9), and the other which would have stood at the diamond with the Air Line. The book "Connecticut Railroads - An Illustrated History" has a couple of shots of these stations. I know there is a link somewhere on the UCONN Railroad/NHRR archive site to a photo. If I track the photo down, I"ll post.

Thank you for the response. I had assumed that Middletown would have had a more impressive building that would have been documented, since it was at the crossroad of the Valley and Airline lines. Plus that Middletown is a medium sized city compared to other Connecticut cities.

The station was located in the southwest corner of the diamond (west of the railroad bridge and current route 9) My grandfather was one of the operators of the swing bridge. When I worked for Connecticut Central, our crew trailer and office were located on the site of the old station. I believe the station was demolished in the late 1930 or very early 1940's
