Bizzare story. WMATA in deep doo doo over hydrofluoric acid spills at yards from washing cars.

I remember when WMATA was washing the cars in this way at New Carrollton yard. WMATA washed the cars using this method when normal detergent washing became useless.

Had WMATA and it's contractor appropriately deluded and neutralized the waist water this would have never been an issue.

Why would anyone use THAT on steel/alumin. cars?

To remover the accumulated dirt and grime from the oxidized aluminum car bodies. The process was a little more involved then running the cars through the cars wash at wash speed. it took several days to do a married pair. The difference between before and after was quite striking.

Why is it over 2003 violations?

The gears grind slowly in some government investigative oversight bureaucracies.
