Hi,

I am visiting Washington in November and would like to travel on as many trains as possible with different MP36's on. To this end I plan on catching train 883 to Brunswick, MD and then starting with train 870 the next day stepping down all the way to Washington in the morning. However, due to the stopping patterns it isn't possible to catch every train set, even if you assume that the set off 883 turns around for 870, 876 or 880 the next day. So my question is this, which train does 883 form the next day and are there any deadheads on this line so that one or more of the early trains runs empty back up the line after arrival in Washington and forms another inbound service?

Also, is there any pattern to which train sets only work one inbound rush hour train and one outbound train (this is for all three lines)?

Thanks....

Just hang out at DC Union and photograph the trainsets as they go in and out from the NY Ave metro station.

I'm only in Washington for 2 days max and one of them is going to be dedicated to the VRE side of things so there won't be much hanging around to be done unfortunately.

This is how it was before the recent major schedule change. It's probably more or less the same now.

870-873
872-883
874-877
876-875
878-879
880-881

890-891
892-893
894-895

Well, Good Lord. Enjoy your trip. You'll discover MP-36s can accelerate a set of cars just as slowly as any other diesel locomotive.
