Hey, guys,

We have quite a discussion going in the LIRR forum about the fact that some of our M-7 cars look disgusting on the exterior.
My question for MN people [Without getting into the tired old "MN is better than the LIRR" drivel, please :-) ] :

Is MN having any trouble keeping their oldest M-7a car exteriors clean?

Thanks,
Tom

MNCR only has one car was for Hudson/Harlem service, the wash in Harmon yard.
I have not seen any M7's that are considered dirthier than som of new ones, The M7's do have a simular problem with discoloration of the stainless steel, mainly on inside of the doors.

How much of that discoloration is from the natural exposure of the surface to air, and how much of it is a bad reaction to the crap that is on the bottom of the riders' shoes? This "foot stain" problem goes back to the original set (the one that had phones in it).
