I can say with authority, we know number plates were saved from G5s's 35, 36, 38, and 44. I know at least one H-10s plate was made into a foot stool, though we don't know which number.
We are trying to determine which other authentic LIRR steam number plates were collected at the end of steam service. Many of our loco went to Modena, Penn. intact, with b/p and n/p.
Understand, we are not wishing to know who owns them or where they live, just whether they exist or not. If you have factually seen one or have taken a picture of it, please respond in this thread.

We know Roy Campanella received 39's original plate and it's since disappeared. We know #40 is currently up for auction, but question the authenticity.

Please help determine which legacies of steam still remain. No rumors please, no "alternative facts". Hard knowledge or images are requested.
