I did not hear it's coming any time soon but if it does there are 3 major issues with web service anyway:
1. Connectivity: according Murphy's law a network will not be available when you need it most
2. Speed: cellular network and server unresponsiveness can create huge delays when getting data (15-30 seconds)
3. Traffic: typical web service produce pretty big amount of data because it's using XML based protocol not optimized for mobile devices
