Joe Malincoco has an article in today's Newark Star Ledger asserting that some of HBLRT's super on time record is the result of management fudging. Each day, drivers say, trains are emptied of passengers and run empty to their destinations to arrive "on time." Other trains will skip stations, requiring pax to wait for another train to get to their station.

The reports come from about 15% of the drivers, and occur in the midst of a protracted labor dispute. Dozens of riders confirm they will be dropped off and the train continues empty toward its destination. Malincoco says he reviewed actual log reports for the trips in question and identified several of the trains. These trains apparently resumed service with little or no repair work, the article says.

The operator doesn't deny that station skipping sometimes happens, but asserts it happens much less than the operator suggest. With service every two or three minutes, it's important to keep trains form bunching up.

I'm not clear on how this can happen. trains run every three minutes. If a train drops its people at Essex nb, the train still has 3-4 trains between it and HOB. Unless it piggybacks on the train ahead of it, it won't gain much time
