No passengers on board the train were injured.

The train was headed northbound out of Grand Central Terminal.
Seeing elsewhere 2 injured (from vehicle), there were 78 passengers, crew status undetermined.

Apparently Green Lane is known for this:

In 2008, there were three train-car accidents at Green Lane in Bedford, including two involving drivers whose GPS devices guided them onto the tracks. In the aftermath of the incidents, in which no one was injured, the state transportation department spent close to $300,000 to make changes.

A hump in the road was reduced, reflective markers were added and pylons were installed to prevent people from inadvertently turning onto the tracks.

BEDFORD HILLS, N.Y., Sept. 20 - A southbound Metro-North train carrying about 200 passengers collided with a 18-wheel truck that had become stuck on the tracks during the morning rush on Monday. The accident sent 29 people to hospitals, with the most seriously injured passenger suffering a broken leg .

The six-car train, the 8:10 a.m. out of Southeast station in Putnam County, had just left Bedford Hills and was traveling about 50 miles an hour when the accident occurred at 8:37 a.m. Most of the injured were sitting in the first car, said Marjorie Anders, a Metro-North spokeswoman.

The driver of the truck, See Singchaichana, 43, of Federal Heights, Colo., had just delivered six vehicles to a Mount Kisco car dealership when he took a wrong turn on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway, which forbids commercial traffic, Capt. Douglas Peterson of the transit authority police said.

Realizing his mistake, the police said, Mr. Singchaichana turned off the parkway at the next exit, Green Lane in Bedford Hills, and tried to turn his 18-wheeler around on the railroad crossing, where it became stuck. The carriage of the truck was too low for the crossing and scraped to a halt on the tracks, Captain Peterson said. The crossing is marked with railroad signs, gates, lights and a phone number to call in the event of an emergency. That number is connected to the rail traffic controller at Grand Central, who can radio the engineer directly.

I'm not sure that the criminal history is relevant.

Joyce Opoku, 43, a home health-care worker from New Windsor, N.Y., was stopped at the crossing when the crossing signal and gates were activated in advance of the oncoming northbound train. Opoku had an 87-year-old female passenger in the car.
...
Opoku told investigators that she tried unsuccessfully to put her car in reverse as the crossing gates came down on the auto, according to the MTA.

MTA Police said Opoku was able to get herself and the elderly woman out of the car to safety, just seconds before the speeding train struck the auto. Neither Opoku nor her passenger were injured, police said.

Police said the crossing gate and crossing signals were operating properly. Opoku was issued a summons for illegally blocking a railroad crossing.

Tthere were 77 passengers onboard the train involved in the incident, Metro-North said. They were transferred safely to a second northbound train and continued their journey more than an hour behind schedule.

Article in Long Islands "Newsday" paper about Cuomo demanding the MTA make changes to grade crossings and to come up with ideas in the next couple weeks after a rash of incidents. Cannot make this up, has nothing to do with the drivers going around the gates I guess?

I'm assuming the MTA chairman has to entertain the idea from his boss. I'm sure Andrew Cuomo's former neighbors are in his ear in Albany being the latest incident was in Bedford Hills, NY
