Now reported by recognized media, namely NBC News, here is an earlier report by Gawker:

I guess if you are a Governor, Quiet Car only applies to "the rest of 'em".

People in the quiet car are pretty pathetic... Granted I hate Krispy Kreme so I'm glad he got the boot.

You might want to revisit that Gawker story.

Because, over the course of the day, Gawker was forced to eat a bit of a humble pie, and correct their story. It seems they, ...er, over-sensationalized things bit. Yes, yes, I know. Gawker? Over-sensitionalize something? No way...

Another passenger who was sitting right next to Christie, on the train, and according to her it was just a big, fat, nothingburger:

Fair use quote:
"Listen. I'm no @ChrisChristie fan, but this @Gawker story isn't close to accurate. He was sitting at my table."

"About the @Gawker fail: @Chris Christie was super courteous and possibly the least intrusive in-public phone person ever."
As I mentioned, Gawker updated their story, and backpedaled a little bit.

Move on, nothing to see here...

CC's press secretary described the quiet car as "notorious" in the press release. Either a tacky slam on those affected by CC, or an idiotic press secretary.

To his credit, the Guvnah was riding Amtrak with "the rest of 'em."

This is such a non story, but the media has to continually sand bag this guy.

Glad to see his was riding Amtrak too.

Total non-story. This happened to me once as well. I was on UP-West to my in-laws' place near Geneva. I called my wife to make sure she could meet the train. I had no idea I was on the quiet car as I had walked up three cars inside the train. I got a few dirty looks and then I apologized and left the car.

Friend of mine got on in Baltimore and was surprised to see the Governor in the cafe car instead of a regular car. Said he "looked uncomfortable" there.

I would have bought him a Dogfish Head and thanked him for chipping in for the new tunnels.

I was once told by a former newspaper reporter that there's a famous maxim in journalism:
Nothing spoils a good story like the facts.
This also suggests a maxim common in the military:
No situation is ever as bad--or as good--as originally reported.
