It's interesting how many buildings in the 1934 photo were demolished to make parking lots. Along with the superhighways shown in the present view, the abundance of building-to-parking conversions shows how dominant the automobile has become.

Try 110 Union Av, New Haven and 31 Universal Dr, North Haven. I wonder how many people realize the waterfront of New Haven wasn't filled in until the 1950s.
