Does anyone has insight on the engineering specs for the current GE locomoive frames as compare to the current EMD frames? From the photos and being close to the prototypes, EMD frames looks very robust, the bottom slab of steel sheet looks especially sick around an inch and half. In contrast the GE frame doesn't seem to have such thick slab of bottom steel. However, from the photos of past collision between GE and EMD engines (modern models such as AC4400, SD70, SD9043), EMD tends to have more broken/bend frames, while the GE frames seems to stay intact in more cases. Also, there are often complaints about SD90/43 and SD90 models having unwanted flex in the frames during operations. Hope someone will have more insight into the engineering figures for either of these builders. thanks
