The former CSX Everett Sub which this first part of the railroad is now belongs to a shortline from Jacksonville,FL to Kingsland
and between Kingsland and Savannah,GA the rails had been partially removed.
This former rail line could be a good choice and a good idea for Amtrak to reactivate this rail link
to a future high speed train like a Amtrak's Acela trains or SNCF,DB ICE trains that
these trains could be running at 200 mph (320 km/h). And this railroad track will be
reserved exclusively for passenger trains between Jacksonville and Savannah.
The high speed trains could be link Jacksonville,Brunswick,Savannah to Columbia or Charleston,SC
to Richmond,VA and Washington,DC.
Amtrak stations could be build along this line from the old Jacksonville downtown station and future
stops like Jacksonville International Airport,Brunswick-Jesup,Savannah and Savannah/Hilton Head International airport stations.
Train travel time will be reduced between these cities along the new rail link from JAX to Savannah.
I saw this interesting link about the former CSX's Everett Sub at this website.
