Florence, CO - UP line

There is a UP line in/near Florence, CO which has protected crossings (double track in some areas) but looks VERY rusty and weedy. The line looks like it has seen much more activity and usage in yesteryears, perhaps as a (mini) mainline.

What is the heritage and routing of this line and why the reason for lack of maintenance and less usage? What is the fate of this line?
